The Gift of Opportunity
We invite you over the course of your visit to accept this gift of colours as an opportunity to explore yourself and expressions of others by contributing on the canvas here. The completed art piece will be on our classroom wall as an example of building of our classroom community that will bring students, parents, and educators together today.
The children have been observing nature and the changes in nature during “The Fall”. Let us get inspired by our own artist Tom Thomson and his painting “ Autumn Foliage”.
Let the actions of the materials serve as a metaphor and use them on the canvas surface as you would like to see yourself in your relationship with nature; strong, warm, peaceful, stimulating, calming, a responder......
Thank You on behalf of our classroom for your gift of time and creativity.
Sincerely
Ms Gismondi and Ms Karia

Family involvement in schools is associated with academic success across all socio-economic groups. (ELECT Document p.10)
Parent engagement matters. Study after study has shown us that student achievement improves when parents play an active role in their children's education, and that good schools become even better schools when parents are involved. It is recognized that parent engagement is a key factor in the enhancement of student achievement and well-being.
Students are more likely to be motivated, to earn higher grades, to have better behaviour and social skills, and to continue their education to a higher level when their parents are actively engaged in supporting their success at school. (http://www.edu.gov.on.ca).
